GUA MUSANG:The Public Works Department (PWD) has received a total of 267 reports of damaged roads and bridges, slope failures and sunken roads in six states affected by flooding.

PWD Director-General Datuk Mohamad Zulkefly Sulaiman said the six states are Kelantan, Johor, Pahang, Perak, Terengganu and Selangor.

He said the damage reported included 141 roads, 58 slope failures, eight sunken roads and three damaged bridges.

"We have instructed all the PWDs in the affected states to monitor the situation so as not to endanger users," he told reporters after inspecting road damage in Lojing, here, yesterday.

Earlier, he was briefed by Kelantan PWD acting director Mohd Suhaili Ismail regarding a landslide incident last Sunday at KM92 of the Jalan Gua Musang-Lojing.

Damages were reported along a two-kilometre stretch which was closed to vehicles from last Sunday but one lane was reopened yesterday after clearing works were completed.

Mohamad Zulkefly said the road needs RM5.3 million to be repaired, adding that further study would be conducted to find out the actual cost of repair.
