Flood-damaged school property to be replaced before 2014 session

The recent massive floods damaged school property to the tune of tens of million of ringgit in Terengganu, but the state authorities are making sure all facilities will be available when the new school session begins next month.

Chairman of the State Education, Higher Education, Innovation and Special Functions Committee, Ghazali Taib, said the damaged property included desks and chairs, computer systems, hostel facilities and infrastructure such as drains.

He said a meeting would be held at the state education department soon to coordinate efforts so as to ensure that the new school session begins uninterrupted.

The Education Ministry and the state education department had an action plan to ensure that all schools would be able to function normally as scheduled, he told reporters.

He said the schools could replace the damaged desks, chairs and text books with additional stocks from the district education offices.
