A fisherman was hoping to spend some quality time with his son fishing on the banks of the Sungai Kinta River Walk in Ipoh but instead found a man’s corpse.
The victim, identified as 20-year-old Tan Yee Shuen, was found hanging from a tree at around 1pm on Tuesday.
Ipoh police chief ACP Sum Chang Keong said, initial investigations revealed the victim had committed suicide using a 50 metre nylon rope which was wrapped around the tree.
Police also found the victim’s watch and wallet on the body apart from a plastic chair nearby.
The body has been sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh for a post mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
The location were the body was found is also a hotspot for Pokemon Go fans where players of the augmented reality game would converge to replenish their PokeBalls or other items known as a PokeStop.
