Family of four laid to rest in mass grave

A family of four who perished in an accident at Km209 of the North-South Expressway near Changkat Jering yesterday was laid to rest in a mass grave at the Lahar Tabut Mosque Muslim cemetery here today.
Othman Hamid, 68, his wife, Aishah Arof, 62, their daughter Azida, 43, and grandson Muhammad Aiman Hakim Shuhaimi, 19, died on the spot after the car they were travelling in rammed into the rear of a lorry which had stopped in the emergency lane.
The couple's son, Rashidi, 38, said his parents, sister and nephew had always travelled to Lumut together to visit their relatives there and he never thought that they trip during the Aidiladha celebration would be their last.
He said they were on their way home to Taman Kuala Bekah here when the mishap occurred at 4 pm.
"I was shocked when I received the telephone call informing me that they were killed in an accident," he said, adding that he accepted it as fate. -- BERNAMA
