Twenty-one people from eight families in Bagan Serai, near here, were moved to the flood relief centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Merah after their homes were inundated by flood waters.

Bagan Serai District Fire and Rescue Station chief Azmir Hassan said they started moving out at 11pm yesterday until this morning after flood water rose to waist level.

"To date, eight victims from three families in Kampung Batu 38, six victims from three families in Kampung Tanjung Bugis and seven victims from two families in Kampung Ban Pisang have been moved.

"The flood situation is stable but the water is not receding fully. There are areas which are still under water and we are still monitoring the water level in the affected villages," he said when contacted here, today.

Water rose in several areas at 6pm yesterday after water from the Bukit Merah Dam was released following heavy rain in the area.
