Eight customs officers of various ranks of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department were charged for 25 bribery counts by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission after receiving bribes between RM200 and RM4,000 each at the Special Corruption Sessions Court here today.
They were Amran Ismail, 35, Kamarul Asmady Ismail, 37; Mohd Rozlan Ibrahim, 57; Mahadir Mohamad, 37; Sahbandi Abdul Manap, 36; Jamaludin Zam Zam, 54 and Som Chit A/L Tiang, 48 under Section 16 (a)(A) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.
Sahbandi was also charged under Section 165 of the penal code. Also charged under the penal code was Abdul Rahman Ahmad, 35.
Judge Alaudeen Ismail allowed them to be released on RM5,000 bail for each offence and fixed Nov 10, 2014 for re-mention of the case.
