EC gets RM135.6 million to conduct Sarawak election

The 11th state election is expected to be called any time now because the term of the current state legislative assembly ends in June.
The government has allocated RM135.6 million for the Election Commission to conduct the 11th Sarawak election due by June this year, according to the Prime Minister's Department.
The allocation given to the EC for the 10th state election, held in 2011, was RM79 million, it said in a written reply to Wong Ling Biu (DAP-Sarikei).
The 11th state election is expected to be called any time now because the term of the current state legislative assembly ends in June.
A redelineation of electoral boundaries has raised the number of constituencies in Sarawak by 11 to 82.
