Pahang residents, unaffected by the floods, were reminded not to take opportunity to use the facilities and food items in the Temporary Evacuation Centres (PPS) meant for the flood victims.
This was voiced by the Regent of Pahang Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah after learning that there were those who were helping themselves with the goods and having meals at the evacuation centres even though they were not affected by the floods.
"I noticed that when there is a disaster, many come forward to help the victims, from both government agencies as well as non-governmental organisations.
"However, in the meantime, there were those who turned up but not neccessarily to help out but instead helping themselves with the food meant for flood victims. Please give priority to flood victims. And those unaffected with flood but helping themselves with supply of sugar, rice and other foodstuff meant for the victims, this isn't fair," he said.
He said this when visiting and giving out donation to 20 families housed at PPS Sekolah Kebangsaan Temai since Wednesday, here Saturday.
Also present was Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.
Earlier, he had also visited 127 evacuees at PPS Kampung Rekoh in Muadzam Shah and PPS Bukit Serok in Rompin, which housed 226 Orang Asli residents.
At the same time, he also reminded the officers and agencies involved with flood management to monitor items that were available for the flood victims to prevent misuse.
"Do not be wasteful, we know with the increased prices of goods, this is the best time to adopt austerity policy," he said.
