The Sedition Act should not be used to prevent any individual from speaking out, said (Pasir Mas–PAS) MP Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz.

He said former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad should be given the opportunity to voice his opinions.

“We in the Opposition have always been unhappy with the Act, even the public have also questioned it,” he told reporters at Parliament lobby today.

“Although PAS does not support Dr Mahathir’s People’s Congress, it does not mean we want to shut the room for him to voice out,” he added.

He was commenting on Deputy Home Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed’s statement on Thursday that police will initiate action against the former premier for his continuous call for Datuk Seri Najib Razak to resign as the Prime Minister.
