The MARA Digital Mall that started operations early this month has been deemed a failure by some because products sold here were more expensive than Plaza Low Yat although the tenants were given a six-month subsidy.
The success of the MARA Digital Mall should not be judged after just a week and should not be used as a yardstick to determine its success, said Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The Rural and Regional Development Minister said a number of leading digital companies in the world have pledged to open their chain of shops at the mall soon.
People should not belittle the efforts of the government to assist Bumiputera traders by opening the MARA Digital Mall, by judging from a week's performance.
"Big corporations like Apple, Samsung, Oppo and HP (Hewlett-Packard) are expected to open their outlets by end of the month. Of course big companies need to evaluate the potential and operation of a certain place before deciding to come in," he told reporters after attending a dinner with representatives of UiTM's 2014/2015 Students Council and College Representatives Committee, here last night.
He said the MARA Digital Mall that started operations early this month was deemed a failure by some because products sold here were more expensive than Plaza Low Yat although the tenants were given a six-month subsidy.
Ismail Sabri said people should not view the MARA Digital Mall from a racial perspective because anybody can come and buy products there.
