SPAD urged the public not to be deceived by ticket touts trying to double their profits during this festive season.
The Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) urged the public not to be deceived by ticket touts trying to double their profits during this festive season.
Its Enforcement Division senior general manager, Datuk Che Hasni Che Ahmad said throughout the season, the touts would take the opportunity to sell their bus tickets at a higher price than the original.
"This is how they make a living. They will go all out to convince the people to buy bus tickets, especially during this festive season.
"Some (tickets) are sold at between RM50 and RM70 for a one-way ticket. So, the public must be alerted so that they will not be cheated," he told reporters after the 'Ops Tegas'.
Che Hasni also reminded those who would be returning to their hometowns for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration to buy their tickets at the official counters to avoid from being cheated by the touts.
In the operation, conducted jointly with the Royal Malaysia Police, Road Transport Department and National Anti-Drug Agency, SPAD checked five lorries, four taxis and 20 express bus from 9pm until midnight.
