REMBAU: The government will launch a new element known as the Registration of Dependents in the MySejahtera application to facilitate the vaccine registration process for senior citizens, on Friday.
Coordinating Minister for the National COVID-19 Immunisation Program (PICK), Khairy Jamaluddin, said the element, which was previously postponed for improvement, is now ready for use.
"It was delayed for a while because I asked for this app to be really smooth. The app developer has already told me it can be launched tomorrow (Friday).
"So tomorrow we will launch the Dependent Registration. After tomorrow, people can register (vaccine registration) for their mothers, fathers, grandparents.
"It's easier," he told a news conference after he became the first recipient of the Sinovac vaccine at Rembau Hospital on Thursday.
He added that the number of registered vaccine recipients for PICK Phase Two was still low and he hopes that the move will be able to increase the number of registrations of prospective vaccine recipients.
Meanwhile, commenting on the proposal for the government to simplify the registration of vaccines, Khairy said, the current process is considered easy because not many questions are asked during registration.
"That's the minimum (question) we need to know. The address we ask for a reason, so that later when we give an appointment date for the vaccination, we schedule it with the place of vaccination.
"Of course we will schedule to the nearest Vaccination Center (PPV)," he said.
The proposal was previously voiced by PKR President, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who said the vaccine registration process should be simplified because it is seen as too complicated at this time.
