Datuk Janathan Kandok said the lorry, carrying Burgemeester beers, had skidded after its driver was believed to have lost control of the vehicle while going down a hill about 4pm.
The district Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) seized 11,688 cans of beer following a check on a lorry that skidded in Jalan Silam here on Wednesday.
Sabah JKDM director Datuk Janathan Kandok said the lorry, carrying Burgemeester beers, had skidded after its driver was believed to have lost control of the vehicle while going down a hill about 4pm.
"However, no arrest has been made. We are closing in on the driver. The business (lorry) permit was also discovered at the scene," he said in a statement here today.
Janathan said the department had also managed to help the government from losing RM56,803.68 in taxes.
The case is being investigated under Section 135(1)(e) of the Customs Act 1967.
