Ismail Sabri said, if the people continued to be highly disciplined, it would help the government to re-evaluate the MCO period, whether it will shortened or ended.
The government has again appealed to Malaysians to stay home during the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO), to help break the COVID-19 transmission chain.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster), Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said if the people continued to be highly disciplined, it would help the government to re-evaluate the MCO period, whether it will shortened or ended.
In his daily press conference here today, the Bera MP said the government was aware that some people were beginning to feel dissatisfied with the MCO that has entered its 33rd day, but it was a very important step to be enforced.
“We understand that many are not pleased with the mandatory quarantine we have introduced. But from the reports we received from the Ministry of Health, we found 17 cases of COVID-19 among our citizens returning from overseas.
"Let's imagine if we let them go home for self-quarantine, we can imagine their families being exposed to COVID-19.
“Their family members would go out to the supermarket to buy goods, of course the infection would have spread further. It will result in a new cluster, a cluster of people returning from overseas,” he added.
In this regard, Ismail Sabri represented the government in appealing to the people to continue to obey the instructions issued during the MCO period.
“Follow the instructions issued by the government so that we are jointly breaking the COVID 19 chain so that we can quickly end the MCO.
"If we are together, maybe the MCO that we have today can be shortened or ended," he said.
