COVID-19: 1,349 new cases, Sarawak records highest daily cases

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia continues to record an increase in positive cases of COVID-19 infection with 1,349 cases in the past 24 hours.

This makes today the sixth day in a row that Malaysia has recorded four-digit cases, after recording 941 cases on March 29, which is also the lowest number this year.

With this increase, it brings the current cumulative number of cases to 350,959, with 14,509 active cases.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) informed that Sarawak recorded the highest number in daily cases with 419 new cases, followed by Selangor (343), Penang (185) and Johor (95).

Meanwhile, as of 12 noon on Sunday, a total of 1,270 cases were reported to have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 335,162 cases.

A total of 186 patients were still requiring treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), with 94 people requiring respiratory assistance.

The MOH also reported two more deaths, bringing the cumulative number of deaths to 1,288.
