A husband and wife were arrested and drugs worth RM94,000 were seized in two separate raids on Wednesday.

Kedah Narcotics Investigation Department chief Supt Abdul Razak Md Zin said police detained the 39-year old husband at a shophouse in Lebuhraya Sultanah Bahiyah at about 1.30pm while his wife was arrested at their home in Taman Desa Seraya here.

“Police seized over 2,041 grammes of ketamine drugs and 1,750 Erimin 5 pills in two separate raids,” he said at a press conference at the Kota Setar police district headquarters here on Sunday.

The couple were also found to be actively distributing drugs around the Alor Setar area.

“The combined street value of the drugs is estimated at RM94,000. Police have also seized two cars, a Mercedes Benz and Honda City, jewellery and cash amounting to RM295,732,” he said.

Both suspects also tested positive for ketamine while the husband had a past criminal record.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries the mandatory death sentence if convicted.
