Cloud seeding has been planned for drought-hit Perlis next week by the Meterological Department, according to Minister in the Prime Minister's Department.

He said the operation was scheduled for anytime between April 12 and 15 and depended on the weather particularly the presence of cumulonimbus clouds.

"The operation is badly needed as the water level at the Timah Tasoh Dam dropped to 26.34 metres today," he told reporters after attending a community function in Kampung Alor Redis, Tambun Tulang here.

He said that he was just informed about the cloud seeding operation by the department's director-general Datuk Che Gayah Ismail.

The critical level for the dam is 26.50 metres.
