Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) President, Datuk Seri Chua Soi Lek will remain as the party president until internal matters are resolved.
"We had a discussion on this and I will leave when the appropriate time comes whereby everything is in order and in its place," said Chua to reporters at Wisma MCA today.
Despite MCA veterans urging him to resign immediately as the party president but Chua had said the majority wanted him to stay on.
He added that his firm decision also means he will be stepping down before the party election at national level.
"The presidential council has decided the party election will start in June from branch until national levels and it will be carried out for five months," he said.
"For the sake of the party's unity and stability, the Presidential Council has decided that secretary-general Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha will carry out the process on expediting the party election.
"At the same, deputy president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai will head a special taskforce to map a new direction for the party after its worst ever performance during the recent general election," he said.
He added that by these new appointments, the party election will be conducted fairly, democratically and transparently.
"There are a lot of complaints about internal sabotage by MCA members and the council has decided that all cases will be referred to the Disciplinary Board for further deliberation," he said.
He said the party welcomes complaints lodge by members provided they come with evidence.
The party will still abide with its decision of not accepting any government posts.
"This decision was decided during the MCA AGM in the 2011/2012, which has been approved. It is not something I or Liow made," he said.
He added Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is aware of their decision on declining any government posts as a sign of respect to the voters.
