Controversial cartoonist, Zulkifli Anwar Ulhaque, better known as Zunar, is being remanded for three days until Friday to facilitate the investigation into his Twitter comment believed to be seditious over the Federal Court's decision on opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's appeal case.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief, SAC Zainuddin Ahmad said police hoped to wrap up the investigation into the 52-year-old Zunar's tweet soon.
"The probe is conducted under Section 4(1)(c) of the Sedition Act 1948 by Bukit Aman," he said when contacted by Bernama, here, today.
Yesterday, Zunar was believed to have posted a comment at 12.17pm which Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar had asked to investigate.
He was subsequently arrested in Jalan Pantai Murni, Pantai Dalam at about 9.30pm.
The Federal Court yesterday rejected Anwar's final appeal against his conviction and jail sentence for sodomising his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan at Unit 11-5-1, Desa Damansara Condominium, Jalan Setiakasih in Bukit Damansara, between 3.10pm and 4.30pm on June 26, 2008.
Chief Justice Tun Arifin Zakaria, who led a five-member panel, delivered the judgement and upheld the five-year jail term imposed by the Court of Appeal on March 7, last year.
