Cartoonist Zunar released from remand

Cartoonist Zunar was released on police bail at around 6.45pm today after a 10-hour remand under Sedition Act 1948.
Zunar, or his real name Zulkiflee Anwar Ulhaque, was detained for investigation under Section 4(1)(c) of the said Act following a report made by Nibong Tebal UMNO Youth chief, Mohd Nurhiesam Ismail on Friday.
Timur Laut district police chief ACP Mior Farid Al Atrash Wahid said Zunar was released on police bail.
Earlier this morning, Zunar was taken by police to the Magistrate's Court here for a remand order.
On Friday, Penang UMNO Youth lodged a police report on his cartoon exhibition, claiming it portrays a negative image of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
