Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that the final report on the National Education Blueprint 2013-2015, which aimed to transform the national education system, was approved by the Cabinet today.
Muhyiddin, who is also Education Minister, said the report will be presented to the Conference of Rulers soon.
"I wish to announce that the Cabinet has accepted and approved the final report of the plan today," he said at the Hua Zong 21st anniversary and building fund dinner, here tonight.
Also present were Hua Zong president Tan Sri Pheng Yin Huah, China's Ambassador to Malaysia Datuk Chai Xi, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, Minister in Prime Minister's Department Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon and Sunway Group founder and Hua Zong building patron Tan Sri Dr Jeffrey Chuah.
Last September, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had launched the Early Report on the National Education Blueprint 2013-2015, which outlined 11 strategic shifts and operations to transform the country's education system.
On a separate note, Muhyiddin emphasised that allegations by certain parties that the government was sidelining Chinese schools were absolutely not true.
"The government is committed to ensuring that the quality of education in all schools is enhanced, including national type Chinese schools.
"That's why, the Prime Minister had allocated RM100 million specifically to fund the development and maintenance of the Chinese schools in the 2012 Budget, which was continued in the 2013 Budget as well," he said.
