The body of a factory worker who was feared drowned after she was believed to have fallen into a drain in Jalan Paya Terubong while riding a motorcycle through flood waters yesterday was found today.
Liaison Officer of the Penang Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department Azman Hussin said the body of Noor Afidah Yajunas, 29, was found in the river near the Bukit Jambul area at 7.45am and confirmed dead.
"In the incident last night, the victim was reported to have fallen of the motorcycle she was riding on and was swept by strong currents, following which the fire department launched a search-and-rescue operations for her.
"We carried out the search operations beginning from where she fell into the drain to the nearby river, but failed to find her," he said here last night.
