Kuching police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai said police received information about the body from a member of the public at about 2.15pm and police arrived at the scene 15 minutes later while a medical team from the Sarawak General Hospital also arrived at the site.
"With the assistance of a Fire and Rescue Department team, the remains were fished out of the drain and initial investigations by a forensic team confirmed the victim did not suffer any physical injuries or foul play," said Abang Ahmad.
He said the man was believed dead for less than 12 hours when the body was found and added further examination on the body did not yield any identification documents.
He said the victim was believed to be of Malay descent and aged in his 30's was later sent to the hospital for post-mortem.
