The body of a male victim of Wednesday's Genting bus tragedy that had yet to be identified, has been established as that of Lai Kuan Peng, 53.

This was confirmed by his younger brother, Lai Kuan Yong, 52, who came to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) mortuary at 3pm today accompanied by his wife Chong Sooi Ngan, 43, and sibling, Lai Chi Meng, 45.

Kuan Yong said he realised the victim was his brother after seeing pictures of a T-shirt and key chain reported to belong to a victim of the tragedy in a Chinese newspaper yesterday.

"My elder brother who lives with my parents in Rawang had not returned home
for three days. As we had no information like identities of the victims published in newspapers, I did not think he was involved in the accident," he told reporters.

According to Kuan Yong, Kuan Peng who worked as a supervisor at a steel foundry owned by Chi Meng often went to Genting Highlands.

"He will usually park his car in Rawang town and use bus services to get to the hill resort," he said.

Kuan Yong said on this ill-fated trip, his brother had gone to Genting Highlands with his close friend Chan Ah Hua, 62, who was also killed in the incident.

He said the last time he met his brother, who was a bachelor, was about two weeks ago.

"My parents have been informed about his death and they are on the way from Pahang where they had to attend to some work matters," he said.

Kuan Yong said the funeral would be held at the Kuala Lumpur Kwong Tong Association cemetery.

Meanwhile, HKL said the bodies of 28 victims of the tragedy had been claimed by their respective families, while nine more were still at the mortuary including one that has yet to be identified, believed to be of an African woman.

The woman was described as 161cm tall, darked skinned, thin, wore a black wig and her fingernails were coloured dark red.

She was attired in a black jacket and pink pants with belt and wore gold earrings and a silver necklace.

In the incident, a bus plunged into a 60-metre deep ravine at KM3.5 Jalan Genting Highlands-Kuala Lumpur leaving 37 people dead including the bus driver, while 16 others were injured.
