Beheaded toddler: Police take teeth, finger print samples from suspect.
Police have taken finger prints and a tooth from the body of the suspect believed to be involved in the sadistic murder of Siti Soffea Emelda to determine his identity.
Dang Wangi Criminal Investigation Department Investigating Officer, ASP Suhaimi Muhamad said it was difficult to identify the body as it had already decomposed when found floating in Sungai Klang near the Sunway toll at about 3pm last Saturday.
"We have sent the finger prints to the National Registration Department and the tooth to the Police Criminal Records Department to determine his identity and need about two to three days to get the results," he told reporters when met at the Forensics Department at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre here today.
Siti Soffea Emelda, aged two years six months, was cruelly murdered with her head severed, believed to be cut off by the suspect, on the banks of the Klang River near the Kuala Lumpur Commuter Station in Jalan Hishamuddin, here on May 29.
Witnesses claimed to have seen a man place the child on the river bank before smashing her head and doing "something" to her neck. When they approached him, he escaped by jumping into the river.
Members of the public found the body of the man, believed to have been freed from Kajang Prison on May 26 after undergoing prison sentence of two years for robbery, floating in the Klang River near the Sunway toll, near here last Saturday.
