The High Court was told that bank officials had not provided any bank account information of National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) executive director Datuk Seri Dr Mohamad Salleh Ismail to PKR vice-president, Rafizi Ramli.

Public Bank Berhad's Jalan Hang Lekiu branch manager Chai Ma Fatt, 49, said he was also not aware of the allegation that Mohd Rafizi, who is also secretary-general of PKR, had obtained the account information from the bank.

Chai said this when answering a question from counsel Datuk M. David Morais, who represented Mohamad Salleh as the plaintiff in the suit he filed against Mohd Rafizi and news portal Malaysiakini, regarding the purchase of property in KL Eco City, Bangsar.

In addition, the plaintiff's witness said the bank had offered a loan to Mohamad Salleh, however, it withdrew the offer after seven months, as it did not receive a response from him.

"The bank supported the loan because it had confidence in the financial position and credibility of Mohamad Salleh," he said adding there was RM71.3 million in the fixed deposit.

In the suit filed on June 3, 2013, Mohamad Salleh, 67, and NFC, claimed that on March 7, 2012, Mohd Rafizi, as the PKR strategic director at the time, made defamatory statements during a press conference at the PKR office regarding the purchase of the property, and this was published by Malaysiakini on the same day.

The hearing before Judicial Commissioner Azizul Azmi Adnan continues today.
