A five-month-old baby boy was killed and his mother injured after their car was involved in an accident at Km 357.6 of the Second East Coast Highway near Bukit Besi, Thursday.
In the 2.30 pm accident, Adam Rizqi Zul Azlan of Taman Medan Jaya, Petaling Jaya, died at the scene after sustaining serious head injuries.
His mother, Siti Hajar Md Aziz, 28, sustained serious injuries in the head and face and was rushed to the Dungun Hospital before being transferred to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital in Kuala Terengganu, for further treatment.
Siti Hajar's two-year-old daughter, Nurhadamia, and husband, Zul Azlan Yaakub, 30, were also injured, and received treatment at the Dungun Hospital.
The accident was believed to have occurred when the family's car heading from Kuantan to Kuala Terengganu skidded, and flipped several times, before hitting the road divider.
Meanwhile, Dungun district police chief Supt Ahmad Zailani Yaacub confirmed the incident.
