Astro AWANI crowned best AI adaptation in news reporting in Asia

KUALA LUMPUR : Astro AWANI has been named the winner of the Digital Media Awards 2024 for the best adaptation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in news reporting in the Asian region.
Through the initiative 'Tanya AI', a project that combines the latest AI technology with the highest journalistic quality, Astro AWANI has positioned itself at the forefront of adaptation, application, and utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in regional media.
According to Astro AWANI Editor-in-Chief Astro AWANI, Ashwad Ismail, this victory is recognition of Astro AWANI's commitment to ensuring the quality and credibility of journalism while embracing the latest technology and innovation.
"The 'Tanya AI' initiative aims to instill the philosophy of using AI to strengthen the quality of products for users and reinforce the capabilities of humans and the journalism world so as not to be swept away by the tide of technological advancement," explained Ashwad.
Astro AWANI also clinched the top award for the Best Lifestyle Website category for small and medium-sized media through the Qatar 2023 Asia Cup website project.
Astro AWANI also won the Silver Award for the Best Fact-Checking Project category through the AI-Powered Fact-Checking Lab Initiative.
The Digital Media Asia Awards were first launched in 2009 to recognize news media organizations that are leaders in digital media strategy and innovation.
This year, 136 entries were submitted, and this prestigious awards ceremony was held in conjunction with the Digital Media Asia conference, the largest regional digital media conference in the Asia-Pacific region.
