Former Kelantan Football Association (KAFA) President Tan Sri Annuar Musa is prepared to assist the association to resolve its financial woes but not as its president.
Annuar said he valued the advice from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who wanted him to resolve the financial problems faced by KAFA so that thousands of fans would not be disappointed.
"The Prime Minister told be to help and I told him God willing (InsyaAllah). I really appreciate your concern and advice, that's all. There is no issue of remaining as President," he said in his Facebook posting Thursday.
On Wednesday, Najib hoped the respective state football associations would find ways to overcome their financial problems.
The Prime Minister was concerned when several state teams, including Kelantan, were intending to withdraw from the M-League next season due to lack of finance.
Annuar who had relinquished his post as KAFA president on Nov 8, said he was pleased to note that the 'big boss' (Prime Minister) was so concerned about the status of football in the country and the problem faced by KAFA.
He also chided those who claimed that the financial problems faced by KAFA was a 'drama'.
News reports Wednesday claimed that KAFA would need RM15 million to participate in the M-League next season but has only RM800,000 in its coffers while a decision as to whether Kelantan would continue playing next season would be finalised at the KAFA extra-ordinary meeting on Dec 29.
Meanwhile, Red One Network Sdn Bhd, a telecommunications company that has been sponsoring the Kelantan team since 2015, had come forward to continue sponsoring the team.
It's chief marketing officer Ben Teh said a meeting would be held with KAFA to finalise the sponsorship offer. -- Bernama
