Chief Secretary to the Malaysian Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa has been re-elected as the President of the Commonwealth Association for Public Administration and Management (CAPAM) for the 2016-2018 term.
The appointment made him the first person in the association's history since 1994, to defend the post for two consecutive terms.
CAPAM chief executive officer Gay Hamilton said the decision was made unanimously by its board of directors during their meeting at the 2016 CAPAM Biennial Conference, here today.
"Ali has been an excellent president, has helped a lot, and has good ideas," she said.
Meanwhile, Tan Sri Ali Hamsa said the appointment was an honour to him and the country, and it shows that Malaysia is recognised internationally.
He said, the appointment is also seen as an opportunity for member countries to learn from Malaysia, especially in the innovation of the public service sector.
