The air quality deteriorated in three places as at noon today as the country continued to face the regional haze phenomenon.

The Department of Environment portal reported unhealthy Air Pollutant Index readings for Kemaman in Terengganu (103), Pasir Gudang in Johor and Balok Baru in Pahang (both 102). The air quality at these places was moderate this morning.

Langkawi saw the air quality improve to moderate from the unhealthy 101 reading this morning.

Forty-five other areas in the country also registered moderate air quality.

The air quality in Limbang, Sarawak, was good at 50.

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality; 51 to 100, moderate; 101 to 200, unhealthy; 201 to 300, very unhealthy and 300 and above, hazardous.

The public can find out the API reading for their areas from the DoE portal at http://apims.doe.gov.my/v2/.
