An Automated Enforcement System (AES) camera at the north-bound KM151.4 North-South Expressway (PLUS) here is believed to have been vandalised.
Tangkak police chief, Supt Mohad Idris Samsuri said the incident was discovered at 9.35am by employees of the company tasked with maintaining the equipment.
"A highway patrol car rushed to the scene after receiving information on the incident. Initial investigations revealed the AES camera pole had collapsed and some of the components in the device were believed to have been stolen," he said when contacted here today.
He said the police believed the vandalism act was carried out at night, adding that investigations were carried out under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief.
The AES camera concerned, which is within the administration of the Tangkak District Police Headquarters (IPD), was installed by the authorities in June.
Another AES camera nearby at the south-bound KM146.8 is understood to be in operation.
