The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) has set up a charity fund to offer financial aids to the families of security personnel killed in operations against the intrusion of Sulu militants.
The charity fund will be managed by ACCCIM executive council. So far, initial pledges to the fund are ACCCIM, which pledged RM100,000 to the fund, The Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor (RM50,000) as well as Jasa Kita Bhd chairman Tan Sri Robert Tan Hua Choon (RM50,000).
ACCCIM, in an official statement, also condemns the Sulu militants for brutally killing Malaysian security personnel and jeopardizing the security and peace in Sabah.
"We also calls on the business community in Sabah, particularly the business community in the affected areas to remain calm, and give full cooperation to Government authorities to ensure smooth supply of goods and services to the people.
"We are confident that the situation in Sabah will return to normal in time to come, and that the economic development in the state will proceed without much interruption," said ACCCIM.
