KUALA LUMPUR: An allocation of RM23.5 million has been approved for 99 local authorities (PBT) to implement low carbon cities throughout the country, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.
Environment and Water Minister Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the allocation was approved under Low Carbon Cities Catalyst Grant (GeRAK).
"We have developed the National Low Carbon Cities Masterplan (NLCCM) to drive transformation towards low carbon cities and Seremban (Negeri Sembilan) is one of the targeted cities under NLCCM," he said in the winding up session of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) at Dewan Rakyat today.
In this regard, on the supply of clean water in Sabah and Sarawak, Tuan Ibrahim said both states would be the primary focus of the federal government under 12MP and would be receiving the highest allocation compared to other states.
He said under the Malaysia Plan 2021-2025, RM7.7 billion has been allocated for Sabah and RM5.6 billion for Sarawak to improve clean water supply in the two states.
