A 40-day-old female infant was among 27 illegal immigrants detained in a 6P operation at Kampung Bagan Lebai Tahir here early today.

Penang Immigration director Hasbullah Abdul Rashid said 111 foreigners were screened during the two-hour operation which began at midnight.

"The 17 Myanmar and 10 Indonesian nationals including nine women did not possess travel documents or had overstayed.

"Besides the infant, we also detained five undocumented Indonesian and Myanmar children aged between five and 10," he told reporters here today.

He said the integrated operation conducted by 145 personnel followed residents' complaints about the growing presence of foreigners in the village.
