GEORGE TOWN: Thirty-five local patrons of an entertainment outlet in Jalan Dr Lim Chwee Leong, here, last night were each issued a compound of RM4,000 for violating the standard operating procedure (SOP) set.

Northeast district police chief, ACP Soffian Santong said during the raid about 10.30 pm, police also issued a compound of RM30,000 to the joint's caretaker for three offences committed.

The raid was conducted by a team from the Bukit Aman integrity and Standard Compliance Department and officers and personnel from the district police headquarters following intelligence work and information received from the public.

Soffian said that during the raid, there were 54 individuals, aged 20 to 53, with a local man admitting to be the caretaker of the entertainment joint while its three workers included a foreign man and a local woman.

"The caretaker was arrested for illegally hiring and harbouring the foreign national, besides 15 foreigners who have no travel documents, who overstayed or misused their visitors' passes and violating the SOP.

"Those arrested are being detained for further investigation," he added
