MELAKA: A total of 321 flood victims from 73 families were placed at four evacuation centres (PPS) opened in Melaka Tengah and Alor Gajah districts since 12 noon today.
Melaka Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) director Lt Col Cuthbert John Quadra said as of 4 pm, the PPS at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Tun Mutahir recorded the highest number of evacuees involving 124 people from 26 families.
"There were 102 victims from 22 families at the SMK Bukit Rambai PPS and the PPS at Sekolah Menengah Agama Tanjung Minyak is holding 40 victims from 12 families," he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile in Alor Gajah, he said, a total of 55 victims (13 families) from six villages were evacuated to Durian Tunggal Japerun (state assembly's development and coordinating committee) hall.
He said among badly affected areas in Melaka Tengah included Sungai Putat, Taman Bukit Beruang Utama, Taman Bukit Beruang Bestari, Taman Rambai Jaya, Tanjung Minyak and Kampung Pengkalan Batu.
In Alor Gajah, impacted locations were around Durian Tunggal involving Kampung Bukit Tambun, Kampung Bukit Balai, Kampung Padang Keladi and Taman Kasawari, he said.
