SHAH ALAM: Twenty-eight baby pythons and their mother were captured by a team of rescuers in a drain behind a restaurant in Section 20 near here last night.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department deputy director (Operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said they received a distress call about the snakes being spotted at the location at 9.56 pm and a team of six rescuers from Shah Alam fire and rescue station was mobilised.

"At the scene, they found what appeared to be 28 newly-hatched baby pythons, along with their mother, slithering in the drain," he said in a statement today.

Ahmad Mukhlis said the reptiles were all captured within 12 minutes before being released at a safer place.
