An unlimited My30 travel pass that went on sale on Monday received an overwhelming response when 21,403 passes were sold.
Prasarana Group (Operations) chief operating officer Muhammad Nizam Alias said people were seen lining up as early as 6 am at the RapidKL customer service counters to subscribe to the package.
“On the first day of the introduction of My30 yesterday, 21,403 My30 travel passes were sold. We expect this number to continue to grow day by day,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
He added that daily customers were attracted to the package as it saves more money and Muhammad Nizam expects it will also attract new users especially those who have never used public transport to work.
“The introduction of the package proves the government is concerned about the problems faced by the people. The initiative is also expected to help boost the number of public transport users.
"Of the 2,209 conversations about My30 on social media networks, over 85 per cent of the comments received were very positive and we are very grateful to all the users who have supported us all these while," he said.
The package is open to all citizens who use the Prasarana rail and bus services in the Klang Valley only and through the package, users pay only RM1 per day for unlimited public transport service.
Users who have not subscribed to the My30 package can do so at all 122 LRT, MRT, Monorail, BRT stations as well as 5 Rapid KL bus hubs at the Pasar Seni, Section 2, Shah Alam, Greenwood, Kajang Terminal and Sri Nilam using MyKad and MyTentera.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in a live broadcast of the National Economic Recovery Plan (PENJANA) on June 5, announced the introduction of the My30 pass where users would only have to pay RM30 a month to enjoy unlimited travel passes for public transport.
According to him, the initiative is open to all citizens and is effective from June 15 to the end of this year.
