2 plantation workers die in Sandakan accident

Two plantation workers lost their lives after the motorcycle they were riding crashed into a four-wheel-drive vehicle at Kampung Jaya Bakti near here, today.
District police chief ACP Azhar Hamin said the victims, who died at the scene, had been identified as Albin bin Amsi, 35, a Filipino and pillion rider Abdurazim Asad Kassin, 17, also a Filipino who did not have any identification document.
"They were workers at Estate Sapat Wawasan Beluran," he said, adding, initial investigations found that the incident which happened around 4pm was due to recklessness.
"They and their friend on another motorcycle had overtaken three vehicles and then one machine grazed against the other, tossing the victims' motorcycle onto the opposite lane and crash into a four-wheel-drive vehicle."
Azhar said the bodies were sent to Beluran Hospital for post mortem. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
