Police have detained two men to assist investigations into the kidnapping incident of an entertainment centre owner whose car was later set on fire.

Kuala Lumpur CID deputy chief ACP Khairy Ahrasa said the first suspect was held on the day of the incident (Feb 2) in Puchong while another was arrested yesterday in Dang Wangi area.

"The first suspect, aged 27 years, was caught an hour after the incident at about 8.30pm while the other man, 30, was held yesterday. The two suspects are being remanded to assist investigations," he told reporters at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters, here, today.

He said initial police investigations revealed that the incident was related to business rivalry, gangsters, as well as illegal money laundering.

"As of today, we do not know the fate of the victim and we are still investigating. But we have found several leads and are confident of solving the case in one or two weeks time," he said.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 363 of the Penal Code for kidnapping and Section 395 for gang robbery and Section 170 for impersonating as policemen.

In the incident on Saturday, a businessman whose burnt BMW car was found at Jalan Hulu Yam, was believed to be have been kidnapped by four men, masquerading as policemen.

Initial investigation found four men in their 30's and 40's 'detained' the victim at a hotel lobby in Petaling Jaya at about 7.20pm on Saturday and later took him in a black MPV.

It was believed that after arresting the businessman, the suspects drove off with the victim's car which was later found burnt in Jalan Sungai Tua, Hulu Yam, Gombak at about 7.20pm on the following day.
