1MDB: Muhyiddin confident of special task force transparency, fairness

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is confident the special task force on 1MDB misappropriation funds will conduct its probe in a transparent manner.
Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has expressed confidence that the special task force set up to investigate all insinuations and allegations hurled against 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) recently will conduct its investigations in a transparent and fair manner.
He said all parties should also have the confidence in the special task force set up to find whether the allegations were true or otherwise.
"I fully support the special task force and I agree the matter should be resolved quickly to restore the situation which is worrying many parties.
"The investigation must be transparent and according to the law without fear or favour," he said at a Tadarus, Khatam Al-Quran and Iftar event organised by the Pagoh UMNO division at Kampung Hujung Tambak Mosque in Gersik, Ledang here today.
Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, Bank Negara Malaysia Governor Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Aziz, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed were appointed as members of the special task force to
investigate allegations on 1MDB.
Muhyiddin, who is also Pagoh MP and Pagoh UMNO chief, said the task force was established not to
find faults but to investigate comprehensively all allegations made.
"In conjunction with Ramadan, pray to Allah so that everything will return to normal and let the task force to discharge its responsibilities as best as possible," he said.
He said so long as the issues overhanging 1MDB were not resolved, they would cloud the view of the international community on the country.
He added that resolving the 1MDB issue was also important for the Barisan Nasional (BN) as the 14th general election was not far off.
He noted that it was also the desire of the people to bring the nation to a stronger era for Islam and the people to succeed.
"Malaysia unlike some Islamic states, has prospered since independence and the situation should continue," he said.
Muhyiddin also said all the trials and tribulations which took place in the country such as MH17 crash, missing MH370, the earthquake in Sabah recently may in a way be blessings in disguise.
