KOTA BHARU: A total of 10,000 individuals who registered for phase two of the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme in Kelantan did not show up for their vaccination appointments as of yesterday.
State Local Government, Housing and Health Committee chairman Dr Izani Husin said this was a disappointment to many parties, including the Kelantan State Health Department, because they had put so much effort into arranging the vaccination process.
He added that their actions also led to the wastage of vaccine doses.
"They give various excuses such as wanting to change their dates, fever, wanting to marry, and finally the health department ends up being inconvenienced because they don't show up even after everything is arranged," he told reporters at Kompleks Kota Darulnaim here today.
Dr Izani, therefore, urged those who have registered to cooperate with the health department by showing up for their vaccination appointment.

Dr Izani also urged Kelantanese who have not registered to do so through existing channels, including the MySejahtera app.
"I hope more Kelantanese will register for the immunisation because Insya-Allah, Kelantan will receive a large quantity of Sinovac vaccine this June.
"So I hope people will make the most of this opportunity and not reject vaccinations because Insya-Allah they will help us avoid being infected," he said while stressing that irresponsible parties must stop spreading fake news about COVID-19 vaccinations.
Regarding the Movement Control Order (MCO) standard operating procedure (SOP) in Kelantan, Dr Izani said it was for some time at a low level until a sharp increase in daily COVID-19 cases that hit three-digits recently.
"We all failed to comply with the SOP. Residents, traders, at mosques, actually everyone just didn't care. That's what happens when we all don't listen to advice from religious leaders, muftis and medial experts about this matter.

"So I urge everyone in Kelantan to comply with the SOP and become a 'government agent' to help remind each other to comply with the SOP to curb the spread of the disease," he said.
Kelantan recorded 626 new daily COVID-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total in the state to 22,546 cases with 56 clusters still active.
In addition, Dr Izani urged celebrities, Instafamous and other high profile individuals as well as heads of departments, community and religious leaders to be good role models to the public by supporting government efforts to stop COVID-19.
"Comply with the SOP, do not be proud about violating the SOP, Insya Allah the public will also support this agenda. Support the government's efforts and become a shining example to society in our effort to break the COVID-19 infection chain," he said in a Facebook post today.
