The Ministry of Health (MoH) has revealed the ratio of COVID-19 positive cases among tabligh attendees at the Sri Petaling Mosque rally late last month who have been screened worked out to 1:10.
Director-General of Health Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the authorities had screened 11,000 attendees so far.
“Of these, the number of attendees who were found to be COVID-19 positive stood at 743.
“The screenings were done on 11,000 attendees, of which the sampling was carried out on 6,700.
"So, out of every 10 attendees whom we screened, one was found COVID-19 positive,” he told a press conference here today.
Dr Noor Hisham said screenings had also been conducted on 11 Malaysians who attended another tabligh mass rally in Sulawesi, Indonesia recently that was eventually called off.
“On March 15, I had a meeting with the tabligh group leaders where they informed that maybe 85 people had attended a rally in Sulawesi.
"So, it is likely that between 80 and 100 Malaysians in total (attended the rally)," he said.
