Stephen Colbert announces his first guest as host of 'The Late Show'

Stephen Colbert takes over the reins from funnyman David Letterman when -The Late Show with Stephen Colbert- debuts September 8.

THE first celebrity guest to help mark Stephen Colbert’s debut as the new host of “The Late Show” will be George Clooney.

The comedian takes over the reins from funnyman David Letterman this fall.

Colbert took to Twitter on Friday to make the announcement, adding “Could one of you let him know?”

Colbert also made headlines Friday morning for bringing his mentor Jon Stewart to tears in an unscripted adieu Thursday night.

Stewart hosted the final episode of “The Daily Show” after anchoring the satirical news show for 16 years.
