"Star Trek Beyond" got a push at the international box office over the weekend, thanks to its successful debut in China with US$31.3 million, reports Deadline.
The film's start is 107% stronger than 2013's "Star Trek Into Darkness". To date, the film has raked in US$131.1 million. It could help pull China out of its well-documented summer viewing slump.
The rest of the international box office plugged away, with animated picture "The Secret Life of Pets" now counting US$400 million, with US$750 million worldwide. It remained at number one in Russia for the third consecutive weekend, making it the third highest grossing film ever in the market behind "Avatar" and "Zootopia."
