The Hollywood actor and producer could play both Pinocchio and Gepetto in this new film based on the famous tale by Carlo Collodi, reports the specialized website Bleedingcool.com.

Launched in 2012, this Warner Bros. project is back with breaking news -- the film producers are thinking of giving Robert Downey Jr. not one but two parts.

The actor would play the woodcarver Gepetto and give his voice and face expressions to the wooden puppet Pinocchio.

The project is still just an idea, stressed Bleedingcool.com. The script is still being written under the watchful eye of Robert Downey Jr., who is author and co-producer of this new version of "The Adventures of Pinocchio."

If the movie does go ahead, Ben Stiller is expected to direct. The actor has directed Robert Downey Jr. before in the comedy "Tropic Thunder" (2008).
