Among the celebrities who attended the funeral were Mariani Ismail, Erma Fatima, Aziz M.Osman, Bade Azmi and Harun Salim Bachik.

The only surviving director surviving director of the golden era of Malay filmdom, Jamil is lauded as the second Malay director who has director the most movies after the legendary Tan Sri P. Ramlee.

Apart from P. Ramlee, Jamil's contemporaries include Omar Rojik, S. Kadarisman, Salleh Ghani, Hussein Haniff and M. Amin -- all who have long left gone leaving legacy behind.

Among Jamil's notable works include Ranjau Sepanjang Malam, Batu Belah Batu Bertangkup, Si Tanggang, Lela Manja, Bidasari and Raja Bersiong. His Midas touch had earned him numerous accolades locally and internationally.

Jamil's career began after P. Ramlee was given the opportunity to helm his maiden film, Penarik Beca. An opportunity came in Jamil's way when P.Ramlee offered him to work with him in the film.

For the film, he undertook the challenge as a songwriter. Azizah, one of P. Ramlee’s signature tunes, was rewritten by Jamil from a song composed by P. Ramlee when he was an unknown in Penang.

Several songs and films later, Jamil became a household at the iconic Jalan Ampas in Singapore. Jamil stood the test of time and has written over 200 songs -- largely deemed evergreen.

Jamil and the late S.Sudarmaji's collaboration spawned a string of evergreen tunes. Among them include Berkorban Apa Saja, Tiru Macam Saya, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Azizah.

He will be buried at the Muslim Burial Ground in Janda Baik, Selangor tomorrow.

Jamil is survived by his film director, Datin Rosnani Jamil and three children.
