KRU Studios defends its film, Vikingdom, which has received much criticism, saying the production was not intended to offend any party.
KRU Studios Executive Producer, Norman Abdul Halim ,said the particular group who is offended by the movie is a minority group who worships deities like the 'Thor'.
"I believe this response is something normal and indeed something expected.
"Comments by the specialist are not from a review perspective but he believes it is an insult to their religion.
"But the film is not a religious film. This movie is based on fantasy which features myth and historical characters," he said.
Norman was responding to criticism by a mythology expert, Karl Seigfred who is based in Chicago.
Seigfred questioned KRU on the promotional statement that the film is a combination of "myth and history".
According to Seigfred, the history of the Vikings in the movie Vikingdom is misleading and inaccurate.
Seigfred is also offended with the film director, Yusry Abdul Halim’s statement.
Yusry previously said that people in the west cannot confirm the existence of Vikings or of Thor.
Seigfred said the statement disrespected their beliefs and culture.
Vikingdom was premiered in Malaysia on 12 September and will hit the screens in the United States on October 4th.
However, it is not known when it will be released in Europe.
