REALITY TV star Kim Kardashian has admitted that social media has played a huge part in her success, despite the negative aspects, like the recent robbery which took place in Paris early this month.
In a special interview with 60 Minutes in the United States – recorded before the robbery incident – Kim said there are more positive aspects of social media than negatives ones.
"There are pitfalls. Lack of privacy, loss of privacy. And that's not for everyone.
"For me, I can handle it. I totally attribute my career to social media," she told 60 Minutes, in an episode dedicated to social media influencers.
Ever since being in the public eye after the debut of her family's reality show 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' in 2007, the mother-of-two has received backlash for not having 'talents' and is only famous for showing her luxurious lifestyle on her show and on social media.
In response to that, she told host Bill Whitaker: "It is a talent to have a brand that's really successful of... of getting people to like you for being you."
When Whitaker said, "You've turned 'you' into an empire, worth in access of 100 million dollars I've read...", Kim replied: "So I would think that has to involve some kind of talent... you know."
Earlier this month, the 35-year-old celebrity was robbed of jewelry worth US$10 million.
The shooting for her reality show has since been put on hold.
She has also been less active on Instagram; her last photo was uploaded three weeks ago.
